I 1812 blev de første vinstokke plantet af russiske kolonister ved Fort Ross på kysten. Count Agoston Haraszthy fra Ungarn, der betragtes som den californiske vinindustris ‘fader’, købte i 1857 en vingård i Sonoma og gav den navnet Buena Vista. |
