TOKAJI ASZÚ 5 PUTTONYOS
2021
After a late start everything was on track around flowering, in mid-
June. Summer was quite hot but turned unusually cold at the end of
August, beginning of September. This weather slowed the ripening
process, encouraging the steady development of complex flavours
whilst maintaining crisp acidity.
High acidities helped us with the sweet wines, where very clean and
pure fruit was produced. Aszú berries of excellent quality and very
good concentration.
We were able to collect berries in large quantities, a generous
proportion of which are included in this blend.
An outstanding vintage with nice balance in the dry wines and
unbelievable richness in the sweets.
These outstanding aszú berries were macerated in fermenting must
for two days. After pressing and finishing fermentation, the wines
were filled into 300 and 500 litre Hungarian oak casks in our
extensive, deep, underground cellars to mature for over two years.
We were rewarded with rich, super-fruity wines, fat but exuberant
with intense flavours and concentration.
Barrel #1442 has a golden colour, a rich nose with spicy notes, well
structured in the mouth, refreshing citrus notes, good acidity, very
complex with a long aftertaste.
Enjoy now or cellar for future enjoyment as the wine matures. Sip as
an aperitif, serve with fruit-based desserts or hard cheeses or enjoy
this mouth-watering wine on its own instead of a dessert.
Serve cool.
