Their\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003elives were not easy, and they laid the foundation for so much of what we do.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eAt Burgess, we honor them by naming a Cabernet Sauvignon for them: “Contadina”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eis the Italian word for female farmer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eVINEYARD SOURCE\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eWe assemble Contadina Cabernet Sauvignon primarily from select blocks in our\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eQuartz Creek Vineyard, in Oak Knoll AVA, as well as our St. Andrews Vineyard, also in\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eOak Knoll AVA. These vineyards are certified CCOF Organic.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eHARVEST NOTES\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eIt has always been our goal at Burgess to capture freshness and grace in our wines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eOur sites are naturally low yielding, and we work hard in the vineyard to preserve\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003ethe site and varietal character and encourage early maturity. And in 2023, a long,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003erelatively cool vintage, we were able to wait and capture the perfect moment of\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eripeness. Rarely do Brix, acidity, and phenolic ripeness align so beautifully as they\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003edid in 2023.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eTASTING NOTES\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eThe 2023 Contadina is a balanced yet lively Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of ripe\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003eblackcurrant and lush red cherry fruit, accentuated with herbal aromatics of sage,\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p2\"\u003emint, and sweet tobacco, and a long, complex finish with rounded tannins.
