Grace Family Vineyards
Dick and Ann Grace established Grace Family Vineyards in April 1976, planting their St. Helena vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon cuttings from the legendary Bosché Vineyard in Rutherford. They sold the property in 2019, and it continues as a family-owned winery today. Dick and Ann still live at the estate, surrounded by the team and vines they established many years ago.
The first harvest at Grace was picked by family and friends in 1978 and taken to Caymus Winery in the back of a station wagon. When Charlie Wagner, the late Caymus patriarch, tasted those first grapes, he exclaimed, “You know, Dick, this is damned fine fruit!” And so one of the Napa Valley’s first vineyard designated wines was produced.
Though Grace Family Vineyards Cabernet became one of Napa Valley’s first “cult” wines renowned throughout the wine world, it remained a small, family affair for the next forty years.
Today, Grace Family Vineyards comprises several Napa Valley vineyards represented by a portfolio of distinct bottlings. Like the original Grace Estate, each site has the strength, character and quality to qualify as a vineyard-designate worthy of the Grace Family Vineyards label.
